PALEO POWOW, Sara Mall Johani
2009. 12” X 7 X 7. Cast bronze. In 2003 Nasikabatrachus sahyadrensis was classified as a 100 year find in India, a 135-million-year-old living frog, previously unknown. Also called the pig-nosed frog which lives underground all year except for two weeks when it emerges to breed. This probably accounts for its reclusive existence, eluding discovery. Primal cave drawing figures from Africa dance on its back.

Eight maquettes by private commission to determine action for larger sculptures. Mounted as one piece on a 5-foot-long stone slab. Group of eight horses performing dressage movements mounted with acrobatic human figures performing their own feats of balance, hence, Extreme Equipoise.

Description: A transformational series of 9 inspired by the Buddhist Oxherd story depicting metaphorical relationship of man with himself. This is the woman's version, having perhaps a more difficult beast to integrate. First, she must have the courage to get on the “grey lady". The woman goes on to next steps - 2. Stand Up, 3.
